Privacy Policy
Modakbang ("we") operates the Chargin app ("the app"). This policy describes what the app actually stores and sends. If that changes, this page changes with it.
1. Information we process
| Item | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous account ID | Created automatically on first launch | To store your records under an account |
| Apple account identifier, name (if you choose to share it) | Only when you tap "Continue with Apple" | To keep your records when you change devices |
| Sleep plan (wake time, target sleep, bedtime, alarm settings) | When you save a plan | Core app features |
| Night records (when and how you put the phone down, wake time, time apps stayed locked, extensions and releases) | Each night | Morning record and reports |
| Gate records (name of the app opened through a gate, tasks you wrote, time allowed and used) | When you open a locked app through its gate | Reports, detecting repeated slips |
| Notes you leave, morning check-in (1–4) | When you enter them | To show them again later |
| Random install ID and step events (first launch, permission granted, plan saved, etc.) | At each step | To find where people get stuck |
| Plan offer and paywall events | On those screens | To check whether offers make sense |
| Ad-related data (section 4) | When a free user chooses to watch an ad | Serving ads |
| Crash information (device model, iOS version, the code location of the error, a random install identifier at the time of a crash) | When the app crashes | Finding and fixing the cause |
| App usage events (saving a plan, Sleep Now, waking, number of gate opens and allowed minutes, etc.) and device info (model, iOS version, app version, country) | While you use the app | Usage statistics to improve features. We never send your to-dos, notes, or app names. |
2. What we do not collect
- Per-app Screen Time usage. The "apps you used most at night" list is drawn on the device by an iOS system extension. Neither the app nor our server receives those numbers.
- Usage of apps you open without going through a gate.
- Whether or how well you slept. The app does not measure sleep.
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or precise location.
- Payment card details. Apple processes payments; the app only checks on the device whether a subscription is active.
3. Retention and deletion
- We keep your data until you delete your account.
- Tap Settings › Account › Delete account in the app to delete your account and all records above immediately. This cannot be undone.
- Step events tied to the random install ID remain only as statistics, no longer linked to any account. They cannot identify you on their own.
- If you delete the app without linking an Apple account, you can no longer reach those records from the app. Email us to have them deleted from the server.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in iPhone Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
4. Ads
Free users may see Google AdMob ads. Ads appear only outside the night, such as on the morning record screen, and only when you choose to watch one.
- To show an ad, Google processes device and app information, an approximate region inferred from your IP address, and ad impression and click data through its SDK.
- The advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for personalized ads only if you allow tracking in the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt. Otherwise you see non-personalized ads. You can change this anytime in iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- We do not receive this data, and we never use your night or gate records for advertising.
- Pro subscribers see no ads.
5. Processors and international transfers
| Recipient | Country | Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | USA (data stored in the Seoul, South Korea region) | Records in section 1 | Storage and authentication | Until account deletion |
| Apple Inc. | USA | Apple account identifier, purchase information | Sign in, payments | Per Apple's policy |
| Google LLC | USA | Ad data in section 4 | Serving and measuring ads | Per Google's policy |
| Google LLC (Firebase Crashlytics) | USA | Crash information in section 1 | Crash analysis | 90 days |
| Amplitude, Inc. | USA | App usage events and device info in section 1, anonymous account ID | Usage analytics | Until you ask us to delete it (via the contact below) |
Data is transferred over the network while you use the app. We do not sell personal information.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, or stop the processing of your personal information at any time. You can edit your name or delete your account in the app; for anything else, email us and we will respond without delay. If you are in California or the EU/UK, you have the rights granted by your local law, and we honor them through the same channel.
7. Security
- All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Every server table is protected by row-level access control, so each user can read and write only their own records.
- Values you should not change, such as subscription status, cannot be written from the app.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 14 (under 13 in the US), and we do not knowingly collect their information.
